Herbert is inclined to adopt the course proposed by the two Medical Officers whose Reports are enclosed, and who are men of some years' standing. He objects, as expressed by Robison, to the very extensive scheme of fortifications suggested.
His Lordship concurs with the highest authority in these matters, namely, to build temporary Huts in order to test the salubrity of the Station before more permanent Barracks are undertaken.
With regard to Works of Defence, His Lordship concurs, as at present advised, that it will be sufficient for the Batteries at the point indicated in the Despatch from Lieutenant General Sir Hope.
